Essay about The Impact of Divorce on Children - 1401 Words
The Impact of Divorce on Children Divorce is the dissolution of a marriage that affects numerous people around the world. Divorce can be a heartbreaking process that affects not just the couple but their children also. I am going to be comparing the impact of divorce on children in context to Bronfenbrennerââ¬â¢s ecological theory. Individual The individual in this context is the child that is affected by the divorce of their parents. Studies show that divorce can affect a childââ¬â¢s social skills (Kim, 2011). Research shows that gender is a factor and that girls tend to be more sensitive then boys about parental divorce (Brockmeyer, Crowell, Treboux, 2009). Another factor is the health of the child. Divorce has an affect on the childrenââ¬â¢sâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦(2) Personality is a system of traits that decides individual qualities (Cobb, 2014a). The three main factors that influence personality are birth order, temperament, and personality type (book p 169, lecture in text). Personality develops by different experiences that the child goes through (Cobb, 2014a). Many different things affect an individualââ¬â¢s personality (Cobb, 2014a). There are different personality types that come from our personality preferences (Bristor, 2010). A childââ¬â¢s personality could be affected by their parents divorce. One trait of personality is if the child is an extrovert or introvert. An extrovert likes to be with their friends and makes friends easily. An introvert is shy and quiet. Traumatic experiences like divorce could make a childââ¬â¢s self-esteem go down and cause them to be more shy and quiet. Another outcome could be if the child was shy and quiet before the divorce may make them seek friends. Microsystem The microsystem in Bronfenbrennerââ¬â¢s theory is the childââ¬â¢s immediate environment (Bristor, 2010). There are multiple microsystems in the childââ¬â¢s life from their friends in school to the church group that they belong to. Family relationships are important but with divorce an individual may turn to outside relationships, like their peers instead of family (Robbers et al., 2012). When the childââ¬â¢s parents divorce they split up their household into two separateShow MoreRelatedThe Impact of Divorce on Children1482 Words à |à 6 PagesThe Impact of Divorce on Children Emily Grandy Abstract The discussion entitled The Impact of Divorce on Children takes an in-depth look at the impact divorce has on children academics. Marriage and European Dowry Custom free essay sample
Lobolo or Lobola (Mahadi in Sesotho; sometimes translated as bride price) is a traditional Southern African custom whereby the man pays the family of his fiancee for her hand in marriage (Compare with the European dowry custom where the woman brings assets[citation needed]). The custom is aimed at bringing the two families together, fostering mutual respect, and indicating that the man is capable of supporting his wife financially and emotionally. Traditionally the lobola payment was in cattle as cattle were the primary source of wealth in African society. However, most modern urban couples have switched to using cash. The process of lobola negotiations can be long and complex, and involves many members from both the brides and the grooms extended families. Often, to dispel any tensions between the families, a bottle of brandy is placed on the table. This is usually not drunk; it is simply a gesture to welcome the guest family and make everyone feel more relaxed (it is known as mvulamlomo, which is Xhosa for mouth opener). We will write a custom essay sample on Marriage and European Dowry Custom or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Lobola may have some unintended negative effects. It may have created a financial barrier for some young men looking to take a bride. It is common for a couple that are emotionally ready to commit to each other to stay unmarried if they do not have the financial resources to satisfy the impeding traditional ritual. For those who do have the financial means, the issue can be Lobolas opportunity cost. Young men who are in the wealth-creation stage of life may feel that their future is better secured if they invest their money elsewhere to receive significant financial returns. Lobola is seen by some as an extravagance that has little relevance in a society where young Africans are trying to lift themselves out of inherited poverty. However, the tradition is adhered to as strongly as ever, and in families where tradition and intention override greed, lobola can be a great way of showing commitment between families, not just between the bride and groom. Many traditional marriages utilise a cash-based lobola; this can be then followed by a European-style wedding ceremony, where the lobola funds are used to pay for expenses. In this way, any outlaid costs are returned to the payer in another form, preserving tradition, honour and finances.

India privatizations face elec essays
India privatizations face elec essays NEW DELHI: Privatisations in India, already hindered by strong opposition from labor unions and political parties, will most likely slow down ahead of state elections this fall, said a senior economist at the Institute for Economic Growth. Privatisation is a thorny election issue. I doubt politicians will do anything in a hurry now, B.B. Bhattacharya, the Institutes director, told Dow Jones Newswires in a He noted that politicians banking on the votes of labourers employed in around 230 state companies are unlikely to risk public disapproval in the run-up to the elections for provincial legislatures in October or November. The government intends to sell around 30 of these companies in the current financial year ending March 31, 2004. It expects several others to be put on the auction block after the Disinvestment Commission makes a judgment on their commercial viability as state companies. As many state firms are usually costly and overstaffed, private investors looking to increase productivity and maximize profit will naturally want to cut down the companys payroll. Bhattacharya, who has served as a technical consultant to the World Bank, said: When industries are privatized, investors cut the wages and rationalize the pay structure. The fear of job losses has led labor unions to protest the sale of state-run companies. In October last year, employees of aluminum company National Aluminium Co., or Nalco, prevented executives of a potential private sector buyer, Hindalco Industries Ltd, from inspecting Nalcos factories in the southeastern Orissa state. This has stalled the due diligence of Nalcos privatization. Trade unions in state-run oil companies went on a three-day strike in March this year. The National United Forum, an umbrella organization representing union workers in most state enterprises, has also threatened to go o ...

Language Aquisition Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words
Language Aquisition - Essay Example The process further advances to a stage where a child learns language agreement rule. For instance, it is through an English agreement rule that a child learns a verb for third-person, singular subjects are added ââ¬Ësââ¬â¢. Language acquisition also involves creativity; it is through creativity that children manage to use their derivational rules knowledge in creating novel words. For example, it is through knowledge of derivational rules that a child manages to derive a verb from a noun, ââ¬Å"broom-broom itâ⬠, and use it in his utterance, ââ¬Å"I broomed it upâ⬠(ââ¬Å"Language Acquisitionâ⬠344). Language acquisition is also enhanced by acquaintance of syntactic rules knowledge (ââ¬Å"Language Acquisitionâ⬠346). It is the knowledge of the syntactic rule that enables a child to utter complex words. Summary of Intervierw - Assignment Example Riffle, noted that she had to carry out her roles in a certain way. As a coordinator, one has to ensure that they have a Masterââ¬â¢s of Science, Development and cognitive disabilities and a Bachelorââ¬â¢s degree in Arts. In addition, it is necessary to have eight years of experience as a teacher teaching special education students. Like most Special Needs Coordinators in campuses, getting one year training as a NISD special Education Coordinator is critical. As a coordinator with such qualification, it is easier to manage special needs students if a coordinator has the skills and the qualifications (Wearmouth, 2013). In addition, parents are more likely to trust experienced professionals with their special needs children (Westwood, 2010). It is not only any special needs children that qualify for the programs, but those who are visually and emotionally impaired. Additionally, those with orthopedic, speech and auditory impairments are also included. Students with traumatic brain injuries and learning and intellectual disabilities are also qual ified. To admit these students into the special needs programs in the school, they have to do tests to check their adaptive behavior, cognitive and language skills (Wearmouth, 2008). Earlier tests used in special education schools were not suitable when it came to testing students with special needs (Frederickson & Cline, 2009). However, today, it is the work of the General Education Teacher to refer the students to the tests, but a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP) carries out the testing. For the school district to get the testing process done, they have to follow the Federal timelines. The Full Individual Evaluation (FIE) or The Admission, Review and Dismissal (ARD) meetings where the parents of the students, special and general education teachers are present are a requirement. Without these meetings, it would not be possible to admit students without allowing the Admission, Review and Dismissal (ARDC) to
